So it should come as no surprise these two companies would collaborate to integrate their services. The latest development to come from that collaboration is the introduction of email in the ConnectDrive system, now included in many BMW models.

BMW X5 & BMW X6 to include e-mail services

Any driver with a BlackBerry Pearl 3G will be able to integrate with their car for a road-friendly set of email features through BMW’s ConnectDrive system via Bluetooth.

Incoming emails are displayed on the vehicles central display and the car will read your emails aloud to you through the sound system so you never have to take your eyes off the road.

The new email functionality for BMW ConnectedDrive has already launched in Europe and North America for all signature models equipped with the BMW Professional Navigation System. Besides email, this system will include call records, contact lists, calendar entries, text messages, tasks and notes transferred from the BlackBerry Pearl 3G to the car.
